I have a pretty cool job.  I get to write about stuff that I think is cool, CARS!!  Hence, my next review:  2010 Nissan GTR.  It’s nickname “Godzilla” was given to it back in 1989.  There are/were many reasons it was given this name.  After driving it, I have come up with my own reason:  It’s a beast!!

Let’s just take a moment and see what this car is all about, PERFORMANCE!!  How about a V6 with twin turbos that can produce 530 hp which power the AWD drivetrain??  What about 0-60 in under 3 seconds??  Did I mention that the 1/4 mile comes in a mere 11.2 seconds.  The car is packed with technological features and is very tuner friendly.  In a recent Motor Trend comparison, the GTR beat out the Corvette Z-06 and the Shelby.

This particular GTR was going to the hands of a perfectionist, Kenny Tran of Jotech Motorsports.  Some of you may know him or have heard of him.  Here are the pictures of it while it was briefly here at Peltier Chevrolet.

Is Godzilla a fictional japanese character??  NOPE!!  He is real!!  He and his brothers live in Garland, TX!!

Remember when your parents told you not to touch the hot frying pan after they just cooked on it??  I’m sure there were some occasions were we did!!  Such is the case when you purchase a new vehicle.  After you buy one, you can’t wait to get in it and smell the new car smell.  So the natural progression is to buy it, drive it for a while (at least till the warranty runs out) and then modify it.  Let me introduce you to Monty Jones!!  He did just that, only in a different order!!

Monty Jones is the owner of Performance Audio in Tyler, TX.  Being in the restyling industry, he knows that you have to build a rolling business card.  He did just that with his 2010 Chevrolet Silverado.  The first modification he did was to get the stance right.  The Silverado was sent to Extensive Metalworks where the suspension was going to be dramatically changed.  Hours and hours of fabrication went into the front and rear of the Silverado.  Tubular A-arms were custom built in front to allow the 24″ Asanti wheels and Falken tires to tuck under the fender wells.  The rear was also changed to allow the bed to sit on top of the wheels.  A custom airbag setup was made so that you can raise and lower the ride height at a moments notice.

You cannot have a “show” truck without doing modifications to the interior.  A custom stereo system was installed.  A double din radio, nav, DVD controls the amplifiers which in turn control the custom kick panels which house custom components to enhance the driving pleasure!!  Speakers were placed strategically so that the cabin of the Silverado would sound like a concert hall.

Why would you even do such a thing to a brand new vehicle??  I say, why wouldn’t you!!

BTW, Monty, I guess you touched that hot frying pan!!

2011 Infiniti QX56

What would you do if all of your friends were telling you the same thing?  Would you do as they do?  Surely, they couldn’t be wrong?  Do you remember your parents telling you:  if your friends jumped off a cliff would you do it?  What you are about to read may push that very saying!

I don’t know about you but, I am ready to jump off the cliff!!

I was watching a show the other day and it prompted me to write about a truck I have for sale.  Rarely do I write about a vehicle I have but this particular truck is nice!!  What I have is a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500.

What is so special about this Silverado??  Just look at it!!  It’s ready to work or play.  Behind the Top Gun full replacement bumper lies a 6.6 liter Duramax engine which produces 397 hp and 765 trq.  You can definitely pull some farm equipment or that awesome cigarette boat!!  The list of amenities doesn’t stop there because after all, this is an LTZ!!  Crack the doors open and you’ll see the deep black leather seating and wood grain trim.  Can’t drive in reverse??  That’s ok, this truck also has a back-up camera.

This truck screams COMPANY MAN!!  Come get it!!

What suv has a 0-60-mph time in under 5 seconds in wet or dry conditions and is quicker than competitors such as Porsche Cayenne Turbo and BMW X5??  Have a clue??  Let me give you some more clues:

If you haven’t guessed by now and the MOPAR and HEMI 6.1 didn’t give it away, I am talking about the SRT-8 Grand Cherokee!!  I have never driven one till today and boy am I impressed. There aren’t alot of SUV’s that I could pack my family in, drive to Brookshires for some groceries, and catch unsuspecting drivers at the stop light grand prix.  The SRT-8 is very comfortable as it is equipped with leather and suede heated seats.  A sunroof lets the sun shine through and the NAV system will quickly get you back on the right track.

Looking at the demographics of the target market for the SRT-8, I fit some of the criteria.  I just hope I can convince my wife……….

The truck is a 1990 Chevrolet 454SS.  Known for its big cubed 454 motor, this truck loves gas pumps!!  It’s not a speed demon but it does need that big motor to carry the additional weight that lies in the bed of this beauty.  Once you open the toneau cover, you will see what I am talking about.  A custom competition ready car audio system is what you will find.  You will find Rockford Fosgate and Audio Control components which make up this concert on wheels.  Custom panels hide and display various items.

You won’t find big gaudy wheels under the fender wells of this beauty!!  What you do have is the factory wheels that have been accented with a lowered suspension.  What’s even better is that the interior is in great shape for being 20 years old.  The door handles are in working order.  The doors do not sag!!  This is just a fine example of a well cared-for truck.

If this was my truck, you’d see me on Friday and Saturday nights cruising Broadway!!

At first glance, it looks like most trucks on the road, plain and simple.  The only visual clue that anything custom is done is the lowered stance.  It has a Roush suspension package that firms up the suspension.  Once you open the doors is when you find out that there is more than meets the eye.  The gauges in the driver’s pillar and on top of the dash lets you know that this F150 means business.

Under the hood lies the plumbing for the STS(Squires Turbo Systems) turbo kit.  A large front mount intercooler helps keep the intake temperatures lower while the blow-off valve releases any unwanted air out of its system.  The turbo is placed in the rear of the vehicle.  This helps keep the turbo cooler than it would have it been mounted under the hood.  As I said, this F150 is stealthy and will surprise alot of folks.

Overall, this F150 means business!!  It sure did put a big grin on my face after driving it!!
